Terms & Conditions 2020-11-20T12:17:04+00:00

These terms and conditions provide important information concerning the Turin Humanities Programme grant. All the terms and conditions of the present call for applications are subject to the safety regulations that will apply at the beginning of the fellowships and for their duration.

ROLE OF FONDAZIONE 1563: Fondazione 1563 administers the Turin Humanities Programme. A Fondazione 1563 representative will serve as the programme contact for the fellows before and during their residency in Turin.

Fellows will be expected to be in residence in Turin for the duration of the fellowship (10 months each academic year), with longer absences (over one week) to be agreed upon with the Director of Studies.

The research projects will have to be completed over 24 months. No extension will be allowed.

During their residence in Turin the fellows will receive free accommodation. Fondazione 1563 will cover the costs of accommodation in Turin and be responsible for providing a suitable structure to host the fellows.

Extra funds to support fellows coming to Turin accompanied by their family are available. The funds can only be used to cover accommodation expenses. Grants from these funds will be awarded at the discretion of Fondazione 1563.

All expenses not mentioned above will be borne by the applicant.

Each fellow will be supervised by the Director of Studies, who will assist the fellows and monitor the progress of their research projects, reporting to the Senior Fellows and to Fondazione 1563.

A mid-term assessment will be conducted by the Director of Studies for each fellow in Spring 2022. A successful assessment is a precondition for the renewal of the fellowship beyond the first year. In Autumn 2022, the fellows will provide an interim report on their research in the form of a 5000-word paper to be presented in a round-table format to the Scientific Committee of the THP and the Director of Studies, and to be uploaded to the webpage of THP.

At the end of their fellowships, the fellows will be requested to submit to Fondazione 1563 a comprehensive report detailing the outcome of their research project in the form of a 5000-word paper to be uploaded to the homepage of THP.

The outcome and results of the research projects may be published in any major European language.

Depending on these outcomes and results, Fondazione 1563 will be prepared to discuss with fellows on a case by case basis the premises of a potential digital or printed publication.

In the case of successful applicants who require a visa to come to Italy, Fondazione 1563 can provide an official letter of support describing the terms and conditions of the THP Fellowship awarded.

Applicants are responsible, financially and otherwise, for making all arrangements for securing a visa, and Fondazione 1563 cannot be responsible for the issuing of visas.

The grant is activated only once the successful candidate has obtained a visa.

In case of successful applicants travelling with dependents, the applicants will also be responsible for making all necessary arrangements for securing them a visa; they may be required to provide evidence of sufficient funding to cover living expenses, health insurance, and travel to and from Turin for each dependent.

For general instructions on Italian visa regulation, please visit the website of the Foreign Affairs Ministry: https://vistoperitalia.esteri.it/home/en

The outputs of the research projects carried out under the Turin Humanities Programme will be collected by Fondazione 1563 on the THP webpage.

The fellows authorize Fondazione 1563 to publish the outputs of their research projects in digital form, without any additional earnings for the grantee, provided that Fondazione 1563 will gain no financial profit from the said publications.

The fellows will notify Fondazione 1563 of any other publication linked to the research activities carried out within the framework of this fellowship, as well as of the presentation of such publications at conferences or seminars. As is customary, it is expected that publications deriving from research carried out during the fellowship will acknowledge the support of Fondazione 1563.

The grantees will provide Fondazione 1563 with a hard copy of any relevant publication linked to the research activities carried out within the framework of this fellowship.
